Welcome

I’m Carrie Lou Hamilton, PhDeditor, translator and writer based in London.

I specialise in editing and translating scholarly texts in the humanities and social sciences, academic writing aimed at non-specialist readers, and general and creative nonfiction. I offer substantive and developmental editing as well as copyediting and proofreading for academics at all stages of their careers, PhD students, other writers and publishers.

I am fully bilingual and have worked across Spanish and English for over thirty years. I’ve translated books, academic articles and fiction from Spanish to English.

My editing and translation work is enhanced by my skills as a widely published author of academic and general nonfiction. My writing explores the relationship between history, political activism and social change. I’ve written books and articles on Spanish and Cuban history, feminism, oral history, revolutionary movements, veganism and more.

I also offer writing workshops and mentoring as well as research and teaching in my areas of expertise.

I taught history and gender studies in UK universities for two decades, and am currently Senior Visiting Fellow, Department of Gender Studies, London School of Economics.

Please get in touch to discuss how we can work together.
